As a firefighter, public information officer, Eucharistic minister, devoted family man and lifelong member of the Oxnard community, Joe Luna touched many lives. His impact was clear on March 26 at Santa Clara Church in Oxnard,
where more than 700 people spilled out the doors to say good-bye.
Luna, a firefighter and longtime spokesman for the Ventura County Fire Department, died March 19, after a battle with cancer. He was 60 years old.

A veteran of the U.S. Army who served in Korea as a sergeant, Luna was buried at Santa Clara Cemetery in Oxnard with military and fire department honors. His funeral drew fire personnel and apparatus from throughout Southern California. Engine 53, Luna

My Chief was a wonderful man, and a great leader. He will be sorely missed.

You can rest easy now Chief, your shift is over. Youre now a member of the greatest fire department that Heaven has known.
